What’s Going On in America? Racism, Wrong White People, Police Abuse & Personal Responsibility

I was talking to a friend today when out of nowhere she blurted out, “What the hell is going on in America?” “What do you mean?” I asked. “Don’t you watch the news? Every day people are getting killed. People are dropping like flies.” We went on and talked about urban crime where in Chicago, 20 people being shot in a weekend is not out of the ordinary. And about Cleveland, where literally every other day someone is getting shot.

We talked about an illegal immigrant who just the other day walked into a house in a relatively crime free suburb of Cleveland and shot a woman who he wanted to rape. Shot her dead. By the way, am I allowed to say illegal immigrant or must I say undocumented immigrant? Nah, I’ll call a spade a spade, illegal immigrant. He walked into a stranger’s house and slaughtered her on the spot. Her husband discovered the 50 year-old secretary’s body when he came home from work. This made me think. We have enough American citizens committing crimes in America that we don’t need completely unknown people from other countries, illegally walking into our country and committing crime. How many other countries allow that? Not many, but America has so many do for everyone fantasy-land people controlling the nations loudspeaker nowadays that it mixes up the very real immigration problem in America. The kumbaya dream world crowd muddy up solutions and steer away from reality. Immigrants are the lifeblood of America. It is what makes her great! Immigrants should be treated with respect and allowed into America in an organized and legal way, only! Anything short of that is stupid. And stupid is what America has going now regarding immigration.

And we talked about politicians. Yes, politicians. Spineless, do nothing people. Would those words be too strong for our nation’s politicians these days? I’d bet the vast majority of Americans would agree with those scathing words. American politicians have lost their backbone to do the right thing; for various reasons. Why do you think Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are surprising the country with their high poll numbers? The two appeal to different groups but Americans are tired of do nothing lying politicians. They want different and they want action. Both promise that in their own way.

And as we talked about crime and our urban areas, I thought about the terrible violence permeating. People are being shot and killed by the hundreds. Mostly black people are being murdered and they are being killed by other blacks. Urban areas are falling apart in other ways, as well. And I don’t mean the infrastructure. In fact, in some cities, the brick and mortar is being repaired and replaced but people, African American people mostly, are not only dying from murder but are dying on the vine. Families disintegrated, low self-esteem, low hope, low work ethic, all which causes difficulty to make something of themselves. I know many people will say something like, how could I say “make something of themselves”. Do I not know that African Americans were slaves and that there is racism in America? That they need help. That they need pity. That the police are so out of control dealing with them. That they need whites to be less racist because that way they’ll get better, do well in society and soon, will be living high off of the hog. Nonsense! Seemingly good intentioned, mostly white people are perpetuating this thesis which is helping to tear away the fabric of black urban areas. And which is the same losing help that was offered in the 60’s and 70’s, again, mainly by white folks. Wrong thinking white people have caused much damage to African Americans. Slavery generations ago and more recently, control measures of pity, government supplied housing and money and excuses are on the damage list. Many need to step back and get out of their way and stop causing more harm than good. Help was a good thing in the days of civil rights awakening in America but it got way out of hand. Touting racism constantly and looking at a people as if they are being abused around every corner and that they need big brother to take care of them is old nonsense that again is being perpetuated by those who have no real clue with what is going on and how to help. Listen to this YouTube video and hear a man who’s been around and who is tired of nonsense holding back people.

I hope for the day we get leaders in America who can revitalize our urban areas and its peoples by bringing back jobs and touting personal responsibility. Lending a hand up not a continuous hand out. This will solve the rampant crime problem. I also hope for the day our leaders have the chutzpah to ignore the  excuse and kumbaya peddlers and who will handle immigration and other American problems with realistic action. So many good people, American people, deserve it.
