So, Where ARE The Jobs?

By Patricia L Johnson and Richard E Walrath

The question that keeps repeating itself over and over again by the Republicans is “Where ARE the Jobs?” Speaker of the House, John Boehner (R-OH) asked the question again on January 10, 2014:

Posted by Speaker Boehner’s Press Office January 10, 2014 Press Release WASHINGTON DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement today regarding the Department of Labor’s unemployment report for December 2013: “Every American has a right to ask the question “Where are the jobs?”.

After doing everything possible to make sure a jobs bill was not passed, Boehner wants to know Where are the jobs?

It’s more than obvious Republicans do not know the first thing about Job Creation. They can spout their talking points until they are blue in the face, but the fact remains the numbers tell an entirely different story. Republicans simply do not know how to create jobs. To prove the point let us look at the number of jobs created under each President over the past 25 years as follows:

During the four year period of time that President George H.W. Bush was in office there were a total of 2,588,000 jobs created.

President William J. Clinton’s eight-years in office created 23,230,000 jobs, the most that have ever been created during an eight-year period of time and more than were created by 10 other presidents combined.

President George W. Bush’s eight-years in office brought about the “great” recession and total job creation of 2,050,000 jobs. President Bush’s policies were so geared towards job creation that in his final year in office we lost 3.6 billion jobs in 2008, followed by a loss of 5.1 million jobs in 2009, or a total loss of 8.6 billion jobs in a two year period.

President Barack Obama’s policies can only be described as bordering on miraculous because in a 62 month period of time he has created 2,925,000 jobs – approximately 875,000 more jobs than were created than in the full 96 months of George W. Bush’s Presidency, with little or no assistance from Republican members of Congress.

If you throw in the fact the U.S. experienced one of the worst recessions in the history of our country which began in December of 2007 and did not end until June 2009, President Obama’s policies have been exceptionally successful. The answer to the question “Where are the jobs?” is quite simple really, they are in the hands of the Democrats and if you want to see more jobs created in this country you would do well to remember that fact when you go to the polls this fall.
